Important Information On Swimming Pools

Most Swimming pools will develop a leak eventually. You can lose thousands of litres of water every year if your leak is left unattended to. Leaks tend to get worse over time, and left untreated can result in hefty water bills and wasted money spent on excess chemicals. Then there’s the more serious problem of your Swimming pool and Swimming pool surrounds (i.e. Concrete, pavers) possibly cracking and sinking.

Do You Have A Leak In Your Swimming Pool?

he two main signs you have a leak are excess chemical usage and excess water consumption (i.e. you have to top your swimming pool up more than usual). If you are unsure whether you have a leak or whether evaporation is just the cause for your water loss, there’s a simple test you can do yourself. It’s called an “evaporation test” or “bucket test”. It requires you to fill a bucket approx 20mm from the top and place it next to your swimming pool. Place it in a spot that receives the same elements as your swimming pool does (i.e. same sun, wind exposure). Mark the water level with a pen and mark the water level in the swimming pool also. Check both levels 24hrs later and record the result. It’s simple; if the pool loses more than the bucket, the difference between the two is your leak. For the best result mark the swimming pool when the water is still and keep from splashing around.

Our Services To You

Swimming Pool, Leak Detection and Repairs

Our highly trained technicians, with a great deal of knowledge, use sophisticated equipment as well as under water testing to pinpoint your leak. A lot of leaks, once found, can be repaired relatively easy, with little disruption to you or your swimming pool surrounds. These repairs are often included in your initial call out fee. Prices for swimming pool leak detection can vary, depending on varying factors. For example, if you have extras on your swimming pool like heating, water features etc., testing these may take a little longer than the average swimming pool. The majority of the time we can be in and out within the hour.

Swimming Pool, Pressure Testing

If you’re a swimming pool builder or DIY Man, getting a pressure test done on the swimming pool plumbing before any landscaping work is carried out can prove highly valuable, especially if you plan on concreting around the swimming pool. It will reveal any leaks that need to be repaired, before future work is done and problems become harder to fix. Having an independent Swimming Pool Leak Detector test the plumbing will provide you with peace of mind, in the form of a written report confirming that all lines pass the test. If any damage occurs later on through different trades or machinery, passing on the cost of repair work to the appropriate party will be a much easier process.

Swimming Pool, Pre-Purchase Test Inspections

If you are thinking of buying a property you will most likely get a building inspection done. However, building inspections do not usually include a report on the condition of the swimming pool. In this case, a comprehensive pre-purchase swimming pool inspection is required. After performing a full leak pressure test we can provide you with a detailed report on the state of the swimming pool; a small fee for peace of mind.
